A four months old baby in Nanyuki’s Majengo Estate is in dire need of medical attention following an abnormal head enlargement.
Baby Henry Onyango started developing the problem at the age of two and a half months when the mother Catherine Nduku realized that the head was becoming bigger by the day.
Nduku, a mother of three said that she has tried to seek treatment for her son in several hospitals including Nanyuki Teaching where she was referred to Mathari Mission hospital in Nyeri.
She said that the cost for the operation to remove water from Onyango’s head is high and they can’t raise noting that she is a casual labourer and the husband is employed as a carpenter.
The mother said the cost of operation is estimated at Sh600,000 and by now they have raised only three thousand from well wishers and neighbours after printing appeal cards.
Nduku has urged Kenyans of good faith to assist her raise the funds so that her son can be treated and his deteriorating health improved. She noted that they had been given two weeks before the operation is done but having not raised enough funds it was not possible.
According to Ann Wangui a neighbor, they have tried conducting harambee only for the money raised to manage only clinics for the child.
Wangui said that they are always worried each day they wake up to the cries of the baby and their hope is if any willing Kenyan will come to the rescue of the innocent Onyango. The mother can be reached on 0720 152 007
