National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Kisii County Richard Onyonka has accused Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leaders of sidelining affiliate parties in their campaigns ahead of the general elections.
The Kitutu Chache South MP faulted area ODM leaders for failing to include FORD-Kenya, Wiper Party, Amani National Congress, Kenya National Congress and Chama Cha Mashinani in the NASA campaigns.
Onyonka, who is also the Deputy Leader for FORD-Kenya, said the trend was undermining NASA campaigns in the region and working for the benefit of Jubilee Party.
Onyonka called on NASA Principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Isaac Ruto to resolve the issue urgently if NASA Presidential candidate is to get massive votes in the County.
Speaking during a fundraising for the construction of Kisii Town Catholic Church held at Nyambera Primary School over the weekend, the MP appealed to ODM not to sideline other partners, saying ODM had only 45 candidates for MCA positions compared to the other five affiliate parties which had a total of 295 candidates in the 45 wards.
“ODM leaders are seeking votes alone and for the six piece voting pattern despite us agreeing to work together during a meeting at Itibo Resort in Bonchari Constituency last month,” said Onyonka.”
The MP urged the people of Kisii not to get involved in retrogressive politics but to vote for the person whom they feel is best suited to serve them.
The Legislator who defected from ODM to FORD-Kenya three months ago, expressed confidence of being re-elected for a third term in parliament after which he will go for a higher seat in the County in 2022.
Meanwhile, their Jubilee counterparts appealed to the electorate to vote for Jubilee, saying the government had proved capable through its development agenda.
Speaking during the same event, Jubilee Women Rep. candidate Doris Donya urged the electorate to make sure they were not left out of the government this time.
Her sentiments were echoed by a local politician Antony Kibagendi who joined Kenyans in mourning the late Ministry of Interior Coordination, CS Joseph Nkaissery.
Kibandi expressed optimism that Jubilee would edge out all positions available in Kisii. They both appealed for peaceful campaigns and elections during the event in which a total of Sh. 3.2m was raised during the event.
