According to Kengen, investment in geothermal production and new innovations had seen the country do away with reliance of emergency power unlike in the past.
This was attributed to new ideas with Kengen noting that it had generated and saved over Sh1B in the last financial year due to employee-driven innovations.
This emerged at the start of the one week conference on Good to Great (G2G) innovation seminar that is being held at Enashipai Spa in Naivasha.
According to KENGEN Managing Director Albert Mugo, the recent drought was one of the worst in the country and had adversely affected production of hydro-power.
Mugo however noted that the country unlike in the past did not seek emergency power as the government had invested heavily in production of geothermal power.
