The Chama Cha Mashinani Party Officials have threatened to take legal action over interference of the registration process of their Members. Speaking in Bomet the Party Leader Isaac Ruto noted that the county commissioner and chiefs have been interfering with the registration of Chama Cha Mashinani Party Members within Bomet.
The Governor further stated that they had followed the law after defecting from URP which was merged into the Jubilee Party adding that the public is free to register in Parties that they feel will represent them appropriately.
Ruto stated that people in Bomet County had lost confidence in the merger and are now moving to CCM an issue that has threatened the Jubilee Party.
The former council of governor’s chairman revealed that the county commissioner and some chiefs had been moving around blocking members of the public with allegations of buying Identity Cards from the public.
Rutto stated the government should focus of drought mitigation instead of blocking parties from registering their members.
He stated that the registration CCM has now clocked 70,000 members out of the 180,000 target.
CCM secretary General David Sang stated that it is a requirement by the party registrar of Political Parties and the IEBC that all Parties should present their registered their members before the nominations. He called on electorates within Bomet to register with the Chama Cha Mashinani before the 6th of March.
