Deputy President William Ruto has asked Kamba and Western Kenya leaders to play a leading role in marketing the Jubilee Party manifesto to voters in their respective areas ahead of the August General Election.
Mr Ruto said it was the responsibility of leaders to sell the party’s manifesto to Kenyans at the grassroots level because they were well placed to do so.
Addressing a delegation of leaders from Ukambani and Western Kenya who had separately called on him at his Karen office in Nairobi, on Thursday, the Deputy President said the Government has implemented most of its development agenda across the country.
‘We are proud of our scorecard and that is why we want to challenge our friends in the Opposition to tell us what they did for Kenyans when they served for years in Government instead of the rhetoric we are used to,” Mr Ruto said.
The Western Kenya delegation was led by Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka and included MPs Boniface Otsiula (Bumula), John Waluke (Sirisia), Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Reginalda Wanyonyi (Bungoma), Mary Emase (Teso South), Arthur Odera (Teso North), Malulu Injendi (Malava) and Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo).
The Kamba delegation included MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni), Benson Mbai (Masinga), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), John Munuve (Mwingi North), Rachel Nyamai (Kitui South) and Joe Mutambo (Mwingi Central).
The Deputy President said Opposition parties would only thrive on propaganda to confuse Kenyans because they have nothing new to offer Kenyans.
“The Opposition only thrives on propaganda to confuse Kenyans because they have nothing to show in the many years they served in Government ,” said Mr Ruto.
“You have the advantage because you can talk about roads, health, education, electricity and several other projects that we have implemented in the region,’ he added.
