Amani National Congress (ANC) has expressed confidence that the National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate Raila Odinga will win the August 8 General Election.
National Coordinating Committee co-chair Sakwa Bunyasi called on supporters to back the ODM leader to deny Jubilee a second term.
Speaking at the party headquarters yesterday, he congratulated ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi for giving up his quest for the presidency.
“We are proud of Mudavadi’s selflessness which is geared for the greater good of the country and ensuring opposition unity,” he said during a press conference yesterday.
According to Bunyasi, the agreement which was signed yesterday at Uhuru Park will ensure that Raila and his party (ODM) will only contest for this year’s election before giving the chance to another candidate in 2022.
“The Nasa deal is a win-win deal for all the parties which is geared at consolidating all Kenyans and ensure that no one is left behind,” he said.
“We all must not lose sight of the goal which is to ensure that we remove the Jubilee administration from power and return the country on the right path,” he added.
Unlike the past memorandum of understandings, Bunyasi said that the Nasa agreement is a legal document which has been deposited in court.
Bunyasi who was accompanied by Lugari MP Ayub Savula, Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu and Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi pointed out that Mudavadi’s position is an executive as well as political which will enhance his profile.
This comes as Wiper Party through Minority Leader in the National Assembly Francis Nyenze condemned the selection of ODM leader as the opposition flag bearer.
Speaking at Parliament Buildings yesterday, he pointed out that it will be difficult task to convince the Kamba nation to be the second fiddle in 2017.
