Health Principal Secretary Dr. Nicholus Muraguri has said Othaya Hospital, whose construction work has delayed for more than five years, will be in operation starting May this year.
The PS spoke today when he, Othaya MP Mary Wambui and other government officials toured the facility to oversee the ongoing construction.
Muraguri said so far 10 contractors are on the site to wind up the remaining work saying the government has allocated Sh300 million for the work.
The PS also singled out some already done work inside the facility that he ordered re-done for what he described as poor workmanship.
He said electrical fittings, gas-piping, door fitting and some floor work were not up to the required standards.
He also said that some four contractors who were involved in initial construction leading to the said delay and substandard work would be blacklisted from government tenders.
“The four contractors involved and who failed to take their work seriously will have to be blacklisted. They will never work with government again, “ the PS said.
