Former devolution cabinet secretary Ann Waiguru has names Nairobi based businessman Peter Ndambiri as his running mate for her Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat quest.
Waiguru revealed his running mate in a colorful public rally at Kanjinji village in Mwea constituency where she appealed to residents to support her.
The hotly Kirinyaga governorship has attracted seven candidates with Waiguru and Kirinyaga central MP Joseph Giatari being the front runner for Jubilee party ticket. Initially Ndambi was gunning for Mwea parliamentary seat currently being held by Peter Gitao.
Waiguru said that after a lot of soul searching and consultation she has decided to name Ndambiri as her running mate since his development record speak for itself. She said that unlike current governors who are at loggerhead with their deputies she will work closely with her deputy and will ensure he’s actively involved in decision making.
The former CS urged Mwea residents to support her quest promising them she will ensure devolution money reaches every corner of the county. Emulating her achievement when she was devolution CS, Waiguru termed herself as the ‘’mother of devolution’’ since she steered devolutions since inception.
She said that with good managers devolution can bring a lot of changes in the grassroots and urged the resident to support here. Naming of his running mate from Mwea put the former CS at pole since the constituency is most populous wi9th over 100,000 registered voters.
On his acceptance speech Ndambi promised to be loyal to his boss pointing that they will work in harmony and they will not allow wrangles to derail their good working relationship. He lamented that the current bad relationship between the Kirinyaga governor and his deputy has derail development and exposed the county to ridicule.
The former chairman of Kenya driving schools association vowed to work day and night and ensure the former minister is elected as the second Kirinyaga governor. He urged Mwea resident to support him Earlier the former powerful CS held a road show accompanied by hundreds of her supporters where she urged the youths and those yet to register to come out and register in big number.
She said that the county needs another five years of President Uhuru Kenyatta so that he can spire development and complete many project currently running under jubilee government.
