The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is investigating the alleged assault against women by Police Operations boss Boit during night swoop in Kileleshwa.
This comes a day after the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai denied allegations of indecent assault during a police operation to enforce COVID-19 rules within Kilimani area and urged those affected to file formal complaint.
“We wish to clarify to members of public that the incident had nothing to do with enforcement of curfew orders. The information we have is that certain individuals attending a night party within the residential area caused disturbance to the neighbors who reported the matter to the police for action.” Read the press statement that was signed by the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai.
He further said that the National Police Service upholds the rule of law and does not condone any form of police excesses.
He promised that the matter will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action taken against those found culpable.
He reminded the public to take due caution and observe law and order and also to be kind to their neigbors during the festive seasons.
“We will work closely with the public to ensure maximum safety and security for all Kenyans.” The statement read.
The National Police Service has been on the spotlight over unwarranted use of excessive force.
