Kiamaina Secondary School in Bahati Constituency, Nakuru county has been closed down for 14 days after four students tested positive for the virus.
The decision to close down the school came about since the institution is a day school and students cannot be isolated within the facility.
“The decision will allow the students to receive the necessary medical care from their homes,” Nakuru County Health CeC, Dr Gichuki said.
This comes after Bahati Girls High School in Nakuru county reported 68 students and five teachers positive for Covid- 19.
Though Bahati High School did not suspend learning but allowed students to be isolated within the learning institutions.
Dr Gichuki noted that the four students are in stable condition and the county government has started contact tracing to prevent the spread of the virus.
Despite the continued spread of the virus in learning institutions, the government has maintained that it won’t close down the schools but will work on better ways of protecting students and teachers by implementing strict Covid- 19 protocols.
