Deputy President William Ruto is currently attending a youth empowerment fundraiser for a local boda boda group at Sironga grounds in Nyamira County.
The meeting comes exactly a week after authorities cancelled a planned fundraiser at the same venue over security fears.
While addressing the gathering, the DP started off by advising the crowd not to fault police officers who were present at the meeting.
He noted that officers who scuttled previous planned meetings were simply following orders.
“These policemen have no problem. They understand the challenges of ordinary people. The problem is the people who live in the ivory tower who don’t understand the challenges of ordinary people,” he said, while urging the crowd to applaud officers present at the venue.
