The body of taxi driver who was believed to have been carjacked in Kericho town was found dumped at a sugar plantation at Kiango in Trans-Mara West Sub-County.
Police later took the body to Nyamache hospital mortuary in Kisii County where next of kin identified as that of the missing driver know as Gideon Kipng’eno Tonui, age 20.
The next of kin had embarked on frantic efforts in search of the deceased since he went missing on 4th of this month. They have been in and out of police stations and mortuaries and finally found the body at Nyamache Mortuary.
Kericho County Directorate of Criminal Investigations Stephen Chacha said the body was found on Sunday and said he appeared to have been strangled to dead by the suspected carjackers before stealing the vehicle Toyota Probox KCJ 952H which was later recovered.
Chacha said three suspects have been arrested at Masaba in Kuria Sub-County in Migori County in connection with the incident saying one of them is a woman.
“We arrested the three suspects who are now in police custody in Kericho and they will be charged with murder. The recovered vehicle is intact. We believe this is a syndicate and we are smashing them,” said Chacha yesterday at the Kericho police station.
He told drivers to be informing others whenever they get customers and where they are heading in case of such incidents.
The deceased hailed from Keongo village in the outskirts of Kericho town. He was said to have left home in morning on 3rd March, 2017 for work and was later found murdered.
