An unknown female student of Maasai Mara University is receiving emergency medical attention at the Narok County Referral hospital following suspected heavy drug intoxication yesternight.
According to Dr Mukenye Harrison who is attending to the student at the Casualty wing the victim who is in comma was allegedly picked from a rain channel and rushed to hospital by the police at 2 am.
By the time k24 television crew arrived to cover the story the fourth year criminology student appeared weak and struggling to breathing had her clothes dirtied.
Mukenye ruled out chances of defilement as her trouser zip was seen open but said preliminary investigation did not indicate any.
However a male student believed to have been in her company has since been arrested and is under custody at the Narok Police Station as investigations are underway.
Efforts to get a comment from the police proved futile as the county police commander was said to be in an emergency meeting at the County Commissioner’s office.
Last year two students from the same university were arrested for allegedly baking and selling bhang laced cakes to fellow students and the public and taken into custody as the Government released shocking statistics this year rating 2 out of 10 pupils who use drugs in primary Schools in Kenya today.
