Business was brought to a standstill in Molo Town Saturday after irate residents, traders and motorbike operators demonstrated and barricaded the Molo-Kibunja road over its dusty condition which they complained is a healthy hazard.
The irate residents blocked the road using stones and lit tyres as a sign of their anger over the impending dust.
Mr Peter Muhende said the four kilometer stretch has proved to be a menace due to the impending dust.
He said that a contractor who was on site a few months ago did a shoddy job where he mixed the murram with cement hence the dusty cement poses a health hazard to residents.
He complained that the dust has resulted in health complications with many complaining of chest, Lung and flu related complications.
He added that it has been 10 years since the Government allocated money to construct the road but nothing tangible has been seen 10 years down the line
‘Our leaders especially the area M.P are not doing their work of ensuring the road is completed because it is under the National Government through Kenya Roads Authority, ‘ added Mr Muhende.
Another resident Mr Njenga Matendo said the road is a thorn in the flesh to the residents.
He blamed the previous contractor of abandoning the construction works leaving the road in a bad state hence the reason o residents of going to the streets to protest and demonstrate due to the impending suffering.
