A 32-year-old man is receiving treatment at St Joseph Nursing home in Molo after he was mistakenly shot by a police officers in the middle of a demonstration in Tinet village in Kuresoi south Sub-county.
Ben Yegon was reportedly shot on the right leg by a police officer from Keringet police station as police officers confronted protesters.
Residents of Tinet were demonstrating against the death of Benjamin Kiptoo Lagat -a 25 year old second year student from Egerton university who was found stabbed inside an illicit brews den in Sotik village in Kuresoi south Sub-county.
Peter Samoei said his son had been stabbed with a knife on the chest and later died.
He blamed the incident on increased consumption of illicit brews in the area.
Samoei called on police to curb illicit brews trade in the area in order to avert such incidences.
Kuresoi OCPD Joseph Rono said on phone that police have commenced investigations into the matter.
