Jubilee Party has suffered another blow after nominated senator Emma Mbura ditched the party for Mandeleo Chap Chap.
Mbura who was nominated to parliament by The National Alliance (TNA) party accused Malindi North MP Gideon Mung’aro who is also the Jubilee Coast Campaign Team Leader of endorsing another candidate at her expense.
The senator also accused the Office of Deputy President William Ruto of having played part in her defection by trying to scuttle her bid for Rabai parliamentary seat in favour of Kisurutini Ward Member of County Assembly Anthony Kenga.
“It has since come to my attention that the Rebel MP’s from opposition who joined our house way after i withered the storms of their insults on the ruling coalition, Mp Gideon Mung’aro together with Farook from the Office of the Deputy President William Ruto and the Jubilee team as a whole, have decided to endorse MCA Anthony Kenga the current ODM MCA for Rabai Kisurutini Ward to run as their preferred candidate for Rabai Mp with Jubilee ticket in 2017, ” she claimed.
Kenya is one of the most popular MCA in Kilifi County Assembly.
While announcing her defection, Mbura claimed that Mung’aro and DP aide Farouk Kibet had endorsed Kenga as Jubilee’s preferred candidate despite all efforts she had done to sell the party in the area which is perceived as a ODM stronghold.
She warned that Jubilee will live to “regret” having forced her out of the party saying she was the most popular among other aspirants among the voters.
“For the last three years I have engaged people at grassroots to popularize my party using my own salary and without any support from my Party Headquarters. I did all these for the love and commitment of my Party not knowing that my party recognized none of those efforts,” she said in a statement.
Mbura said she regret the time and resources she had spent to ensure Jubilee Party becomes popular at grassroots. Such attempts to justify a wrong is irrelevant to accept. It is now clear on me that I no longer belong to the radar of my trusted friends and I have no choice but to leave,” she added.
