Police in Kisii have arrested 17 people among them a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination supervisor, seven invigilators and Monianku Secondary School deputy principal over suspicion of exam malpractice.
Kisii County Police Commander Benard Muli said those arrested are being questioned as investigations into possible cheating at the school begins.
“They were arrested on Monday evening and we have already begun interrogating them to establish why they had the examination material outside the examination centre,” said Mr Muli.
Mr Muli said security agencies in Gucha South, Kisii County, received intelligence that the school had hired non-staff members to facilitate exam malpractice.
Some of the suspects were found in a house next to the school compound with copies of a chemistry exam paper which was still going on at that time.
