Bungoma MCAs on Tuesday stormed Governor Wycliffe Wangamati’s office demanding that he leaves for failing to initiate development projects since he was elected.
At least 42 out of 63 MCAs have signed a petition to impeach the county boss.
They snubbed a special sitting of the assembly which was called to approve the names of chief officers and other county staff for vetting.
Members of the public joined the MCAs in the demonstrations as they demanded to be addressed by the governor. Operations at the county assembly were brought to a standstill.
The MCAs accused the governor of having a poor development record and of high-handedness in the discharge of his duties.
Tuti Marakaru MCA Joseph Nyongesa refuted claims by the governor that the county government has disbursed Sh34 million in every ward for development.
