Police in Mombasa have intensified the crackdown on suspected drug barons with several raids being conducted in Nyali, Kisauni, Kongowea and Changamwe on Monday night where more suspects were arrested.
Among those arrested in the latest operation was another notorious drug dealer identified as Said Juma who has also been in and out of court on drug trafficking related cases.
Juma was arrested in a sting operation carried out at his home in Kongowea where about 1kg of heroin was recovered.
Kisauni OCPD Christopher Rotich said the suspect is a local supplier who has previously been arrested by police but bought his way out in court.
Rotich said several other suspects are on the run and police were tracking them down together with their accomplices.
“We are not going to spare them, we will hunt them down until we arrest all those suspected on engaging in drug business here in Mombasa and other parts, we highly laud the members of the public who are sharing information with us on daily basis,” said Rotich.
He said that samples of the drug netted had been forwarded to the Government chemist for analysis.
the arrest comes just a day after another nine suspects were netted on Sunday where some 17 kilogrammes of heroin worth Sh 170 million and Sh 18.4 million in cash was recovered in a sting operation.
The cash was recovered stashed in a black suitcase belonging to two suspects; Nabil Mohammed Loo and his associate Stephen Vicker Mangira by a special police team.
