Nominated Wiper Member of the National Assembly Bishop Robert Mutemi today caught the defection bug and decamped to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap(MCC).
The MP, who is eyeing Mwingi West parliamentary seat, accused the Musyoka Kalonzo-led party of lacking a coherent agenda for Kenyans and was therefore not ready waste his energy fighting for it.
He said unlike Wiper, MCC has an agenda which includes solving the problems Kenyans are facing today. Mutemi, who at one time was almost being kicked out of Wiper, accused the party of only being interested in protecting the interests of only a few individuals.
“MCC is a party which concentrates on solving the people’s problems and not protecting the interests of a few individuals,” he said.
And receiving Mutemi, Dr Mutua said his party will be welcoming more new members on board because Wiper was only interested in benefitting a few individuals and working to undermine Ukambani leaders who are becoming popular for pushing an agenda to transform the region.
“It is embarrassing if you have been a leader of a particular community and when one visits your area he only development be it houses, roads are only concentrated in your area,” he said.
