Two more bodies of victims who drowned in river Sondu Miriu on Sunday have been retrieved.
The bodies of Charles Otieno ,37,and Hillary Ogendo ,35, were found on Sunday night in the ongoing search by area residents.
Four victims died in the tragedy after their boat capsized in the river at Abuoye village in Kabondo Kasipul on Saturday evening.
The retrieval of the two bodies brings the total of bodies already found to three since the incident occurred.
Earlier on Sunday, the body of Duncan Odoyo, 35, was found by the residents.
A team of searchers are still looking the body of Joshua Owino, 30.
On Saturday night four people died in river Sondu Miriu after the boat they were crossing the river in capsized.
However two others survived in the tragedy as they managed to swim over safely.
Homa Bay police commander John Omusaga said the search for the remaining body is in progress.
“We’re on high alert with security measures as a search for body continues,” Omusanga said.
Cord leader Raila Odinga who visited the scene condoled the bereaved families.
Raila termed the incident as unfortunate as the families had lost their bread winners.
“This is a tragic moment for the families and us. I’m told they were bread winners in their respective families hence we appeal for your calm at this trying moment,” Raila said.
