Fourteen people dead after a lorry lost control and rammed onto four oncoming vehicles and then rolled severally at Kiengu along the Maua-Meru National Park road on Friday evening.
According to Igembe South OCPD Jane Nyakeruma who spoke on phone, the accident which happened also left at least 18 more people seriously injured.
Eye witnesses said the lorry which was ferrying goods had passengers perched on top and it was speeding headed to Garbatulla in the neighboring Isiolo County and they expect the number of the fatalities and casualties to be higher.
The injured were rushed to Maua Methodist Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
Police and other emergency service rescuers arrived on the scene where transport was paralyzed for the better part of the evening.
