Nairobi’s Health Chief Officer has accused the Public Service Board of surpassing its mandate by revoking the transfer of medical superintendents from two hospitals.
Chief Officer Thomas Ogaro transferred doctors Charles Wanyonyi and Omondi Kumba on January 23. But on Thursday, board Chief Executive Officer Meshack Guto revoked the decision saying the doctors had been demoted.
In a memo shortly after the revocation, Ogaro asked the county’s Legal Services director to intervene.
Wanyonyi was a Medical Supritendant at Mbagathi Hospital while Kumba served at Pumwani Maternity Hospital.
Ogaro redeployed Wanyonyi to take over as Medical Specialist at Mbagathi and Kumba to Mama Lucy Hospital in the same capacity.
Guto revoked the redeployment citing section 75 of County Government Act, 2012, which empowers the board to correct any irregularities.
