andari FC team manager Alfred Obwaka died on the way to hospital on Thursday morning.
It is said Obwaka, 43, had suffered a heart attack. He had just escorted his close friend and Bandari FC kit Manager Ali Abdalla out of his house in Majengo after watching the English Premier League match between Arsenal and Chelsea.
“We attended the team training session … he was in high spirits. He invited me to his house where we had supper as we waited for the Arsenal game,” said Abdalla
“He complained of chest pains but refused to go to hospital immediately, even after I insisted. He said he would go for a check up in the morning.”
Abdalla said Obwaka’s wife called him with news that he had collapsed a few minutes after he got home.
“She asked me to rush back to their home because my friend was suffering. I had to rush back there. I found him lying on the floor. His family tried lifting him but he was heavy. We helped carry him into a vehicle and rushed him to Mewa Hospital.
“It seems he died on the way … doctors at Mewa said he was no more.”
