There is looming industrial protest by disgruntled workers at the high end Sankara Hotel Nairobi following the irregular summary dismissal of an expectant lady.

Tension is high between workers and two top foreign senior managers who have threatened all expectant workers with dismissals or they resign if they become pregnant.

So far, three senior managers all Kenyan nationals have been sacked on flimsy grounds and threats to have many more facing the same fate. Sankara is said to have unqualified expatriates as top managers.

Two administrators, Anil Kumar and French Mark are said to be notorious in using disrespectful and vulgar language while addressing staff members.

“Anil Kumar and French mark do no respect Kenyan local staff.  We are being humiliated and even denied the right to have a family. Pregnant ladies are being sacked arbitrarily. We want the ministry of Labour and Central Organiation of Trade Unions (Cotu to urgently intervene in this matter,” the workers decried.

Kumar is the Director of operations of Sankara Nairobi. Kumar reportedly harassed the sacked expectant lady who is currently admitted at a city hospital. She is said to have suffered shock following her abrupt job termination.

“Anil Kumar doesn’t want to see any pregnant women staff in the hotel. Where in Kenyan law does it discriminate against pregnant women?” The workers lamented.

According to our impeccable sources within the embattled hotel, the Human Resource Manager is also said to be targeted for forcible exit. On Septmber 2, 2016, insiders intimated that Kumar asked one of the female manager who is pregnant to either resign or be fired on the spot.
