Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s ally has now threatened to sue Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa over defamatory remark.
In a letter addressed to Marwa, Aharub Ebrahim Khatri has demanded that Marwa should issue a public apology within the next 24 hours or face court action.
Through his lawyer Mohammed Balala, Khatri said Marwa’s statements were reckless and deliberately targeted to ruin his name.
Marwa has in the recent days described Khatri as a notorious drug baron who they recovered more than three guns in his Ganjoni house.
But Khatri who was arrested last week has said that failure by Marwa to record statements with the police on his claims suggests that he had no basis for his accusations.
The lawyer further pointed out that Marwa is meddling into the jurisdiction of the National Police Service and purporting to have the powers of the police and interfering with their independence on matters of investigation of persons.
Khatri states that the remarks made by Marwa on him being a suspected drug baron, engaged in illegal activities and maintaining an armory of illegal firearms, portrayed him as a dangerous criminal.
